Our Story
Tanzania moved us deeply. From the open plains of the Serengeti to the elephants of Tarangire and the extraordinary landscape of Ngorongoro Crater, the scale and natural beauty of the country left us in awe. Watching wildlife move across the land, we felt how closely life was connected—to water, to the seasons, and to one another.
We were equally moved by the people we met and the ways their lives were intertwined with the land and wildlife around them. Through their knowledge and daily practices, we glimpsed a way of living alongside nature that deepened our appreciation for Tanzania.
Meeting Shengana
Shengana was the best safari guide we have ever had. Raised Maasai, he brought a deep understanding of Tanzania’s land, wildlife, and culture to everything he shared with us.
As we traveled, our conversations went beyond the safari. He spoke about his upbringing, his education, and the difficulty of being caught between two worlds: the Maasai traditions that shaped him and the modern Tanzania in which he now works and lives.
His passion for his people was infectious. He puts all his spare income into the work, a personal commitment that stayed with us. We wanted to help him and his family make a difference.
Tanzania gave us extraordinary memories, but it also gave us a reason to act. Moved by its natural beauty and the relationships we formed, we knew we needed to help. What began as a safari became a lasting connection—and a commitment to support greater opportunity for Maasai women and girls.
